Q: What do you do?
A: During the day, I have the pleasure of leading a small, but mighty team of passionate folks that market and sell Texas’ original hemp beverage (and gummy) at Tejas Tonic. At night, I switch hats (or shoes, shall we say) and have the greatest honor and privilege to teach the next gen of marketing and advertising leaders as an Advertising Campaigns and Brand Strategy Adjunct Professor at both, St. Edward’s University and the University of Texas Ad Grad School.
Q: If you could "walk in her shoes for a day," who would you pick?
A: There are so many inspiring women out there, it’s hard to pick one. I also, wholeheartedly believe, it takes a village, and I prefer one too. But – if you’re making me choose, I still stand behind my answer the first time I was asked which was Michelle Obama. She’s so humble, beyond intelligent, an incredible wife, mother and respectfully, one of the most amazing advocates for women and girls across the world – she’s a north star to many, including myself.
Q: When have you felt the most elevated?
A: A mixed bag of things here: I try for a good daily walk, run, yoga class, you name it – some kind of serotonin boost is always helpful! I’m also a huge bookworm – I love learning something new – whether it be about another person’s story, something in history, or indulging in mindfulness books that make me think differently or inspire me to be a better human, leader, listener, communicator, etc. – a book in a hot bath is my happy place. Lastly, a freezing cold Agarita Berry Tejas Tonic – always elevates mood 😊.
Q: How do you balance your work demands and your wellbeing?
A: Create followership, lead with integrity, empathy, conviction and always lead by example. And, if you can be - be impeccable with your word and don’t take anything personal (as much as humanly possible). Huge fan of the book “The Four Agreements.” Great guide for life and inadvertently supports the goal of equality, as it puts everyone on the same playing field with the same agreements to follow in work and in life.
Q: What is your favorite pair of shoes?
A: Boots, boots, and more boots. Can take the girl out of Texas, but you will always find me in some kind of cowboy boots! I have a boot cobbler I’ve been seeing for years and we’re good pals – I know his daughter and grandson and I think that about says it all. Old Wests – one of the best brands, it nails my value ratio.
